They did not have enough men to keep up with the Union. Their men were losing morale after seeing the death tolls pile up. The Union blocked a lot of supply lines and burned many of the Souths ammo and other resources. Many women were spies, worked in factories, nurses, and much more throughout the war. The war effected women by showing others that women could help with war efforts. It also showed the lengths that women were willing to go to help the cause (dressing as men to fight). After the war women were given more rights, but still not the right to vote.

It was able to allow Lincoln to communicate with the troops and leaders. This allowed for strategy and quick changes to battle plans. It also allowed for timely reinforcements and more resources.
