The repeating rifle and ironclad ships. The repeating rifle shot seven shots in 30 seconds, and brought a greater advantage to the North by increasing the number of men that they can kill in a shorter amount of time. Ironclad ships were made with a thin layer of iron and were able to stand canons and explosives, unlike the old wooden ships they used to use.
