This systematic process is designed to detect task-inherent hazards and eliminate them prior to starting a work activity.
What is a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)?
A space qualifies under this general term if:
1) It is large enough to bodily enter.
2) Has restricted entry/exit.
3) Is not designed for continuous human occupancy.
What is a confined space?
This standard piece of personal protective gear must be functional and actively worn at all times while sitting in a forklift seat.
What is a seat belt?
This sensitive electrical interrupting device is a mandatory safety feature for all temporary 120-volt, single-phase 15 and 20-ampere receptacle outlets.
What is a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI)?
This task restriction applies to any work activity occurring within six (6) feet of building perimeters, elevator shafts, or floor openings where items could drop below.
What is Edge Work?
When building a basic JHA worksheet, these are the titles of the three primary columns you must complete from left to right.

2) Unsafe Condition, Action or Hazard
3) Preventative or Corrective Action
This mandatory safety role requires an individual to remain strictly outside a permit space to continuously track the headcount of all entrants.
Who is the Attendant?
Prior to operating any rented or owned equipment on the project site, a designated competent person must perform this action and keep it on file.
What is an inspection?
This is the minimum allowable thickness metric (AWG size) required for all conductors used in temporary distribution and lighting circuits.
What is 12 AWG?
This ensures proper over-current and overload protection. Over-current protection must be directly based on the current-carrying capacity of the conductors supplied and the specific power load being used. Smaller wires (such as 14 AWG or higher) have a lower current-carrying capacity, making them highly susceptible to overheating and creating fire hazards when subjected to heavy construction power loads.
To prevent severe rollover accidents or gravity-driven displacement, these items must be physically chocked or tied down to the structure at the end of every workday.

When listing recommended safe operating procedures on a JHA, instructions must explicitly avoid general statements like "be careful" and instead begin with this specific type of word.
What is an action word?
"List the recommended safe operating procedures. Begin with an action word. Say exactly what needs to be done to correct the hazard, such as, "lift using your leg muscles." Avoid general statements such as, "be careful."
To protect workers from stratified atmospheres during a vertical descent, the atmospheric envelope must be tested to either side and ahead of travel by approximately this distance.
What is four (4) feet?
This collaborative action must occur before each shift between an operator and a dedicated spotter when working in highly congested locations or blind spots.
What is meeting to discuss and agree upon their roles, responsibilities, and communication method?
To ensure maximum structural protection, extension cords are strictly prohibited from being suspended or supported using any of these four items.

Under alternate entry procedures, an instrument check is strictly required in this specific testing order before any employee may break the plane of the opening.

What is an engineered tandem lift plan?
If a breaker panel door must remain locked for security, a sub-tier contractor is required to install this specific setup directly next to the panel for emergency field use.
What is an unlocked disconnect?
To coordinate high-hazard tasks, this process must be initiated by site leadership if multiple distinct trades are scheduled to work vertically stacked directly on top of one another.
