Quietly, and orderly. No talking, running, horseplay.
What should our volume be when walking in the halls at ANY point?
OFF. Silencio. Zero. Hip and Lip. Zip it. Quiet as mice. No talking or you'll lose 5 minutes of recess.
When the teacher is giving instruction, what should we be doing?
Active listening
Prepared with appropriate materials (ALL other items put away)
Calm bodies
No distracting behavior (leaning in chair, playing with toys, talking, wiggling, tapping, humming, drawing)
List some things we should NOT do on the playground?
Climb up slides

Climb outside of playground bounds (top of slides, outside of the safety barriers, etc.).
How should our desk look at the end of the day?
Cleaned off completely and inside of the desk organized

When working with partners, what are appropriate behaviors to have?
Don't be rude about who you're assigned to work with - EVER. You will lose points and recess. Possible ISIC referral if it becomes a pattern
Participate and carry your weight for the assignment (converse, share ideas, listen to others, BE KIND)
Keep volume down so other groups can work
Stay on task
Learn from your peers - that's the purpose of group work

When we return to class after reading groups, what should I do?
Have a seat and find something quiet to do while I wait for the teacher to tell me to dismiss.
When stickers start getting handed out, I do NOT pack up until I receive mine, or am told to pack up directly.
List some things we should NOT do when coming back to class after recess?
Continuing recess in any way (running, jumping over chairs, using or playing with gym equipment, visiting with friends).
Bombarding Ms. Brubaker with questions, requests for water, asking to leave to get belongings from another room, asking if you can leave for reading group, calling out about belongings left at the playground, etc.
Talking and being disrupting to neighboring classrooms.
If someone talks to you in the hall, is it an acceptable excuse for engaging in conversation with them?
NOPE.
Ignore them, or ask the teacher to move to another spot in line.
During independent work, what are things we should NOT do?
Hint: Think worksheets, computer assignments, assessments
Talk with peers (SOME exceptions to this)
Be on websites other than what is part of the assignment - you will lose computer privileges for one full week
Doing something other than the assignment
Distracting others with talking, tapping, humming, or touching them/their belongings
When does recess end?
Hint: recess is not always the same time, so the answer is not a specific time.
When teachers call you to line up!
No more shots in the basket, not one more trip down the slide, not one more play, no more bouncing gym equipment... just LINE up and get ready to walk calmly into the classroom.
After I have been instructed to pack up, what do I do?
QUIETLY line up.
I may talk quietly with friends in line, but must remain whisper voice, calm body, and KIND words only. I will lose 5 minutes of recess, or receive an ISIC referral for unkind behavior during dismissal.
