Describe how the military training in Athens was different than the military training in Sparta 

In Athens, there was only two years of forced military service. In Sparta, men spent most of their lives in the military (40+ years) and remained in the military until age 60. Men in Sparta also were forced to live in barracks from ages 20-30. In addition, Athens placed importance on education in writing, mathematics, and reading. Sparta, however, focused all of their training and education on the military and training the most effective fighters.
