What is the first thing you should do when you get any type of assignment?
Put your name on it!
What should we do if we have a conflict with a classmate?
Wait until we are calmed down to speak to them, state how it made us feel, reach a mutual agreement on how to move forward, ask for a teacher's help if it is not resolved.
What day do we bring our Chromebooks home, and what are the 'must do's' that night?
When you use one of my supplies, where should it go when you are done?
Back in the correct spot, not necessarily where I found it..
Give me a brief run down of what the morning looks like from the time you get here, until the news starts.
Reading or resting in the hallway until Ms.Canaday invites us in, greet her at the door, unpack completely, then play with the STEAM bin that is at my desk.
If an assignment is unfinished, and you will need to return to it to complete it, where will it go?
It will go inside the pocket of your catch up folder- not loosely inside my tray.
How do you get tickets to spend on Friday's?
Exceeding expectations, going out of my way to help other people, following directions quickly.
What will I say when I want you to get off of your Chromebook during independent work time?
Close them up, and plug them up!
How should you keep your tray in order to be responsible for all of your belongings and work?
Neat!
Give me a brief run down of what dismissal looks like?
Get back from specials and check mailbox, put any papers into our binders, completely pack up by gathering all belongings and binder, find a seat on the carpet or at my desk until my load is called.
On your monthly writing journal, how do you make a 100?
Completely finishing the writing journal with enough details. One or two sentences on any of the prompts will not give you a 100 from here on out.
How do we walk in the hallway? What will happen if we cannot walk correctly in the hallway? Why are these the rules?
When may you get on your choice board?
You may get on your choice board when your 12 units of Lexia are done, and when your writing journal is complete (with details).
What is everything you need to bring with you when we switch classes?
How should we transition around the classroom?
Quickly, Quietly, and Calmly
While the class is taking a test, give me some examples of what the classroom should look like and sound like?
look like- everyone working hard and trying their best, staying on task and not falling behind, keeping eyes on own paper.
sound like- silent, only talking if you raise your hand for permission to speak
How should we behave when there is a substitute or a guest in the room?
We should act like Ms.Canaday is here, if not better, and we should treat them with the utmost respect.
How should we put up our Chromebooks and headphones when we are done using them?
Chromebooks need to go back into my numbered slot (and actually be plugged up). If there are other people in line, I need to be patient. I should roll up the wires to the headphones and put them back into the headphone bin.
What will happen if we cannot use materials correctly?
They will go on vacation and we will not be able to use them.
If Ms.Canaday says we can move around the room, what are some choices we should make to be able to do so effectively?
Choose a spot that is away from distractions (friend and environment distractions), complete work, and move to a new spot quietly if the first spot is not working out for me.
What are logical consequences? Give me an example of a logical consequence?
Logical consequences are either good or bad things that you get when you make either a good or poor choice. For example, if we exceed expectations, we will get a ticket. Or, if we are talking when we should not be, we will get silent lunch.
What are some things on your Chromebook you should not do without permission?
What is one material we go through the most (aka Ms.Canaday has to repurchase all the time)? And how can we do better so she does not have to buy them all the time?
Expo markers- we need to be better about keeping 1 in our pencil pouch in our tray. When we borrow one, the lid needs to click back on, and it needs to go back into the expo marker bin.
There is one 'call backs' and one 'attention getter' that I used last year to get your attention, what are they, and what do they mean?
The 'call back' was "Hey third grade?, Hey Ms.Canaday!"
The attention getter was ringing the doorbell.
Both mean to freeze where you are and stop all conversations.
