How many people should be talking at once in a class discussion?
One person at a time.

What should you be working on during group work?
You should only be working on what Ms. Brumley instructed you to do. Do not work on anything else or be off-topic.
What is the noise level during independent work?
Level zero, or very quiet to allow for on-topic conversations. This helps everyone focus on their work.
What kind of school culture should you be showing at all times? (What does it stand for?)
ACE culture (accepting culture for everyone). This means being kind and respectful at all times. This also means being accepting of everyone's viewpoints, even if you don't necessarily agree.
What can you do if you want to participate or add something to the discussion?
Raise your hand.
How can you show Ms. Brumley you are listening during instruction?
Be quiet, look at the slides, and do not distract yourself or others.
Why is it important to work in groups?
To work on collaboration skills, learn about other people's ideas, and deepen our leaning.
How can you listen to music during independent work?
Work quietly for 10 minutes until Ms. Brumley gives everyone permission. Or, you can pay 3 pet bucks for yourself, or 6 bucks for the whole class.
What kind of effort should you be putting into your work at all times? Why?
You should be putting full effort into your assignments. This is so you can show what you know.
What happens when you talk when someone else is talking?
You can't hear what they said, and you will lose a participation point.
What can you do if you have a question while Ms. Brumley is giving instructions?
Wait patiently until she asks for questions, or is finished talking to raise your hand.
What happens if you are off-topic or working on something you are not supposed to?
You are not deepening your understanding of the content. You will also lose a participation point.
What should be on your desk during independent work?
Only what you need to do the work. It should be clear of anything else.
What kind of language should we be using in our journal, assignments, and class discussions?
School appropriate, respectful, and professional language.
How can you show someone you are listening?
Be quiet, look in their direction, put away distractions.
What happens if you are talking while Ms. Brumley is giving instructions?
You might miss something, and you will lose a participation point.
How should you treat your other group members?
With respect and ACE culture. Be open to everyone's ideas and perspectives. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
What can you do if you have a question for Ms. Brumley during independent work?
Raise your hand and wait patiently. Or, if there is a queue, you can write your name on there. Do something silently while waiting.
How can you stay on top of all of your assignments and remember due dates?
Write in your agenda to remember deadlines and assignments.
What can you do instead of interrupting while someone is sharing?
You can wait patiently for them to finish, and ask them/ comment when they are done or after class.
What can you do if someone is trying to distract you or talk to you during instruction?
Politely ask them to stop and pay attention. Or, you can turn away from them, so you can pay attention.
What should you do if there is group conflict?
Peacefully discuss and try to come up with a solution. If you need extra help coming up with a solution, get Ms. Brumley to help.
What can you do if you are having trouble concentrating, or find yourself distracted?
Try your best to get rid of the distractions. You can ask Ms. Brumley for help on this or move to a spot that is less distracting.
