What is the very first thing that you do when you enter the room?

Read the RED

1

The teacher starts explaining to the class how to do the assignment. John blurts out that he loves this assignment. Obviously, the teacher will be happy that John gets to do an assignment that he loves to do, but, what is the problem here?

John interrupted the teacher which can easily encourage others to blurt out as well. This is frustrating for the teacher because he/she loses the concentration of the other students, due to the call outs.

1

The teacher is explaining an assignment that the students will work on together in their groups. Sally is digging through her binder while the teacher is giving instructions and Joseph is making eye contact across the room with a friend of his. Why is this unfair to the rest of the group members?

Sally will most likely not have a clue what is going on because she was focused on finding something in her binder and Joseph is just expecting the group to pick up the slack and reexplain the directions to him. The rest of the group is frustrated because they already feel that they will be doing most of the work.

1

If there are pencil marks on the table or pencil shaving all over the table, what is the common sense thing to do?

Wipe off the table.

1

What is our rule about the cell phone?

If the teacher sees it, then we take it. Your phone should be in your binder and NOT on you.

The teacher is talking to another student and they are huddled having a low conversation. If you need to speak with the teacher as well, how do you approach the situation?

I stand away from the conversation, but close enough to where the teacher knows that I need to speak to them.

2

If the group is working on an assignment and one person does NOT participate at all, then what does the group do?

(1) speak with teacher before end of class if the teacher does not already know (2) student that did NOT do the work does NOT get the grade.

2

What should your table area look like before you leave?

(1) clean table (2) materials neatly stacked on table or put up like the teacher requested (3) chairs pushed in or cushions stacked neatly underneath table (4) trash picked up under or around table.

What is the signal that tells you to sit immediately?

When the tardy bell rings.

3

The teacher is speaking to another adult and Joe comes up to the teacher and asks a question. What is issue here? How could he handle it better next time?

Joe should not interrupt. He needs to wait back for the conversation to end or come back later.

3

What does a good GROUP look like?

(1) asks for everyone's opinion (2) respects all ideas (3) encourages / includes everyone to join in (4) works through problems (5) stays focused on the task (6) everyone does their fair share.

Eyes on the reading

3

What does "DO NOT DESTROY OUR SUPPLIES" look like?

Not chewing or bending cap lids, putting cap lids back on highlighters, not breaking pencils, not rubbing pencils on the walls, not writing in books or ripping book pages, not bending and ripping the plastic sleeves.

4

What should you have on your desk?

It depends on what the RED tells me. I should only have what is needed for today's lesson.

4

Sandy grabs a pencil from the teacher every day and breaks the pencils up to throw and Joey at the next table. What are the issues here?

(1) Breaking something that does not belong to them. (2) Throwing in class could hurt someone (3) Making a mess that they most likely won't clean up (4) Disregard that someone paid for that pencil and it is not getting replaced.

4

Rubric: On task = 40 points

Gives input = 30 points

Practices with the group = 30

What is John's possible grade on the project if he stays on task most of the time, gives his input all the time, and does not practice with the group consistently?

70ish

4

If you are absent, then what is your responsibility?

Go to PLANBOOK and see what we did. You are responsible for having all your work turned in within 3 days of absence.

4

What is the rule for the center highlighter holder?

Don't twirl it unless you are needing to use it. Don't mess with the highlighters unless we are using them for an assignment. DO NOT SWAP THE CAPS.

5

What is wrong with this scenario? Janet comes to the teacher right after the tardy bell rings and asks to go to the restroom. She has her planner filled out and ready for the teacher to sign.

No leaving the first 10 minutes of class and the last 10 minutes of class.

5

The intercom comes on to make an announcement. The announcement was not for the students but for the teachers instead so the students continue to talk. What are the possible issues here?

The teacher still needed to hear the announcement so by students continuing to talk, the teacher may have missed some important information.
