How do you excellence at lunchtime?
Keep all hands, feet and objects to self. Sit on your bottom. Ask a teacher to get up. Make sure you leave the area as clean as you found it.
You may not buy food/snacks for anyone else or give them your money so they can buy items. You should not share food.

How do you practice excellence in the hallways or in line.
Keep all hands, feet and objects to self. Stay silent in line. If you will be tempted to talk to a friend, don't stand by them. If we can't do this then we will make a line order. You should be in two single file lines.
Can I bring soda, Starbucks, or smoothies into the classroom?
No
Should you go to the nurse for a tooth ache? Give an example of when you should go to the nurse.
BONUS: what are some of the other things your teachers may ask you to do before going?
NO, not for a tooth ache. You should go if you have a fever, head injury, or other severe injury. There are other times too but they are on a case by case basis.
You may be asked to drink water, use restroom, eat a snack, and/or put your head down and rest for 20 minutes before going.
How many students should be seated on each side of each table?
You should be a good citizen by not leaving someone to sit and eat alone but you should not have more than FIVE students on each side of each table.

How should you walk in line?
In two straight lines. Stand behind a person, not walk sideways.
Where can you find the school expectations?
In the packet that you should have kept at home or you can ask Mrs. LaVell or Mrs. Kurec when you have an opportunity.
What is Mrs. LaVell and Mrs. Kurec's number one job?
To keep students safe.
If you see trash that isn't yours, should you pick it up?
Yes, because you are helping the school and setting a good example.
How do you know what homework to turn in? Where should you turn it in?
It should be written in your planner. It will be written on the homework board. You will put your paper in the folder of your number. Place it horizontal and make sure your name and number is on it.
How can you show excellence when walking in the hallways?
Walking quietly so others can learn. A quiet finger wave if you want to greet someone.
What is the expectation and policy regarding homework.
You must write what Mrs. LaVell writes in her planner. All homework is due in the morning. If you are missing homework, you will write it in RED pen in your planner. Late work is NOT accepted in Spalding. For all other items, late work is accepted until the end of the unit or chapter.
When can I sharpen my pencil? Can I use a personal pencil sharpener?
In the morning, at transitions, at the end of the day.
No, you may not have a personal pencil sharpener at school. If I see it, I will tell you to take it home. If I see it again, I will take it.
How can you show excellence to other students/classmates?
By speaking and responding kindly to everyone. You should be using an inside voice in the lunchroom.
What are some other things you may need to do in the morning?
Unpack snack and put on shelf, organize your desk, read quietly, prepare Rocket Math folder. Use Restroom. Fill water bottle.

Tight to the right.

Where can you eat your snack or your lunch?
It would be best to eat snack at snack time on grass. If you cannot wait, you can eat by the doors to the atrium. It would be best to eat lunch at lunch time in MPR/Gym. If you have not finished, you can eat by the doors to the atrium.
What is the first thing you should do every morning when you arrive?
Read the board
What happens if you can't follow directions the first time when lining up?
We will make time to do it over again until you get it right. If it continues to be a problem you may have to walk holding your teacher's hand.
What should be in your pencil case?
Three sharpened pencils, one glue stick, one red pen, one highlighter, one scissors, two dry erase markers.
Can I read graphic novels at school?
Yes, sometimes. Not during Lyceum.
