What do you do when you want to talk in class?
By raising you hand quietly until you are picked.
How do you get your group to work together?
By taking turns talking and sharing.
What can participation look like?
Agreeing/disagreeing with statements or ideas. Answering questions, completing handouts, sharing thoughts and making connections, etc.
What do you do to help other be a better student?
You encourage others by saying positive things. No put downs!
How many people are considered a group?
2 or more people
How should I come to class each day?
Prepared and ready to go.
If I am moving around the classroom, how should I do it?
Walking calmly, no running.
Someone in my group is not speaking/sharing their ideas, how can I get them to be involved?
Ask them questions. For example, "do you agree with what was said?" "Why do you think that?" "Can we hear your thoughts?"
How can I show that I am actively listening?
Make eye-contact, turn my body to face the speaker, repeat what the speaker said.
How do students respect other students properties?
By not touching them or destroying them. Ask to use first before taking anything.
What does a good working group look like?
They are sharing, helping, and encouraging others and getting your work or project done.
If I have a question and I am too shy to ask out loud, what can I do?
How can you respect others?
By listening to them, taking turns sharing, and using appropriate language and gestures.
What kind of noise will working in group sound like?
Students talking quietly but not disrupting others.
How can we make everyone in the class feel comfortable sharing their thoughts.
Be respectful, do not laugh at others' opinions. There are NO wrong answers.
