How should you enter the classroom?
You should always enter the classroom on voice level 0.
- This includes first thing in the morning, after lunch, recess, and enrichment.
What should I do when I first leave early duty?
Use the restroom before you get your backpack. Once you enter the classroom, your job is to get prepared for the day and sit down quietly.
What are consequences for not following the rules?
We do something called logical and natural consequences.
Logical Consequence: You were not on task on your chrome book after 2 warnings, so you lose chrome book privileges for a week.
Natural Consequence: You broke your chrome book because you were not careful with it, so naturally you do not have a chromebook until it is fixed.
When can I leave my seat during class while Ms. Kass is teaching?
- When you need a pencil from the bin.
- When you need a tissue.
- When you need a bandaid.
What stays in my supplies bag?
What extras can I put in my supplies bag?
Pencil, crayons, markers, glue, scissors.
- Nothing. This is not a storage bad, and it is not your personal bag. There should be no trash or personal belongings in here.
What do I do if I need to use the bathroom?
Raise two crossed fingers.
Never raise your hand to ask to use the bathroom or to interrupt a lesson.
What should I do when I enter the classroom?
1. After using the bathroom, grab your backpack from the hallway and come quietly into the classroom.
2. Put water bottle at the hydration station.
3. Choose your lunch for the day on the lunch clipboard.
4. Unpack and grab needed supplies for the day, which will be listed on the board.
5. Complete morning work.
What are some more consequences after 5 warnings?

When do I need to wait for Ms. Kass to finish teaching to leave my seat?
- to use the restroom, unless it is an emergency.

How should my desk, locker, and binder always look?
Everything should always be organized and easy to find.
I should NEVER have trash in my binder, locker, or desk. Everything has a place.
If I have a question, ask 3 peers. If I still don't know, I may ask Ms. Kass.

When can I use the restroom?

What voice level am I on when we are moving on to something else in class?
Sometimes we forget what we are supposed to do, you may whisper to ask a friend for a reminder. Otherwise, your voice is off.

How do I behave when someone knocks on the door, when Ms. Kass steps out to speak to an adult, or when an adult steps into Ms. Kass's room?
I am absolutely silent unless there is group work.
I am working hard and quietly.
I am on task.
- Consequence for not following this expectation is the entire class will lose recess.
How will I get graded papers back?
You will get graded papers back every Wednesday. They will get stapled to your agenda.
Your parents will sign that they have seen them on Class Dojo. If your parents have any questions, they can message me.
If YOU have any questions, you can ask me in the morning before class, during recess, or dismissal.
How do we line up?
Always line up in number order.
Always.
Silent. Behind the person in front of you. Second FULL block in the hallway.
What do I do if I need help with independent work?
Raise your hand.
If Ms. Kass is available, I will come to you. If not, I will come to you as soon as I can.
It is NEVER acceptable to yell out or call "Ms. Kass!"
What is the PERFECT ATTENDANCE party?
For each day that everyone is present without being late or checking out, we will earn a letter that spells Perfect Attendance.
When we spell the entire phrase, we will have a reward. Our first reward is extra recess!
When can I sharpen my pencil?
Before class starts or during dismissal.
You should always have at least two sharpened pencils at the start of the day.
If both of your pencils break during class, you may turn them into the dull pencil bin for two sharpened pencils.
Where will I turn in my papers?

What is my voice level during group work?
Voice level 2-3.
You can talk with an inside voice.
At no point should you be shouting at your group. This is not considered respectful group discussion. If you cannot participate without interrupting and talking loudly over each other, you will work independently.
Will there be classroom jobs?
Yes, there will be classroom squads.

How do we treat our technology and all objects in the classroom?
With respect.
How should my line look in the hallway?
Silent, in the block behind the person in front of me, hands to myself (not touching the walls or people), walking like a 4th grader.
