What do you do when you want to talk in class?

Raise your hand quietly until you are picked to speak. One speaker at a time unless we are doing partner share or group work.

What do you do when you first come in every day?

Unpack backpack, put your water bottle at the sink, put any jackets or sweatshirts, lunch pails, etc. in your cubby. Backpack goes on your chair.

How do we line up for leaving the classroom?

Wait to be called, walk quietly to line. Face forward, no talking. 

Line up in number order.

What do you do if you have a question when the teacher is at small group/round table?

3 before me! Ask 3 friends for help before asking the teacher.

Look at the board to see stations.

Look at what others are doing and see if you can figure it out on your own.

If you need the restroom, show Mrs. A. the sign.

How will I know when to start an activity if my teacher is giving directions?

Wait until she finishes giving directions.

What does work time sound like?

Level 0, unless you have permission to talk, then level 1 or six inch voice.

What do you do if you finish your work early? 

Quietly do any of the following - 

Finish any work in your blue folder.

Finish any station work you didn't get to do.

Read books from your book bin or your library book.

Write a story in your red response log.

It depends!

How can you show the speaker that you are giving them your full attention?

Use whole body listening 

Eyes watching, ears listening, mouth quiet, hands empty, body calm.

How do students respect other students' things?

By not touching them or destroying them. If you want to borrow something or look at something, you need to ask nicely first. If they say no, respect their answer and ask someone else.

When can I use the bathroom?

During work time or center time. Not during lesson time. You still need to tell the teacher before you go.

What should you do with items that you find in the classroom and don't know who they belong to?

Put them on the bookshelf by the door.

How do we act at small group table? What do you do when it's not your turn at small group?

You sit nicely in your chair, do small group work together, then walk back to your desk. 

If it's not your turn at small group, you're doing rotations work at the tables or quietly at your desk.

Where should you put work that is not finished? 

In your BLUE folder

How do you come to the carpet?

Fill in the first row, then the second, then the third. Be sure to give your partner a High Five.

Where do your backpacks go?

For now, they are closed and put on the back of your chair. Nothing should be on the floor to keep our room safe.

Red basket on top of cubbies.

What should you do if you are missing a supply like crayons, pencil, scissors, or glue? 

Borrow one from the class supplies, or ask a neighbor if they are willing to share.

How can you be a kind friend at recess?

Taking turns, hands and feet to self, using nice words, including others in your games, etc.

By listening to them, taking turns sharing, using nice words, and safe bodies.

Wait until you are called, push in your chair, and walk to line without talking.

How do we walk back into the room?

Walk in quietly without words and sit in your seat. Take out the materials shown on the board or requested at the door.

What do you do if you need a new pencil?

Put your pencil in the white bin and get a new one from the black pencil bin.

Stop what I am doing, put my hands on my head, and wait for my teacher's directions.
