List the 17 steps to administering medication

1.Inform peers that you are completing medication administration

2.Ensure there are not any distractions before preparing the medication

3.Wash hands

4.Assemble supplies ( water, medication cup, applesauce, gloves if required)

5.Unlock medication lock box/cabinet

6.Select medication binder - picture and name corresponding to person

7.      Select corresponding medication package/blister card/cream

8.Check your 6 rights of medication administration

9.Dot the MAR confirming it matched the medication being dispensed

10.Open medication and dispense appropriately

11.Lock cupboard

12.Bring medication with picture to person

13.Repeat your 6 rights of medication administration

14.Administer medication and ensure it has been taken

15.INITIAL the MAR and place empty blister pack in bag to be returned to pharmacy.
