CBT interventions work on changing behavior through education, conditioning, and practicing of techniques to modify inconsistent or distorted thoughts or beliefs. This type of analysis requires developing hypotheses about how a target behavior functions situationally so that it can be better reinforced or reduced. It uses data primarily from a record of antecedents, behaviors and consequences related to motor functions, feelings, cognitions, and environmental events that a client experiences while involved in a target behavior.
