An air masses are large bodies of air that has the same temperature and pressure. Air pressure is the amount of weight above Earth’s surface. Air pressure can be either High or Low.

Stratus clouds are low level clouds that cover the sky like a blanket. When they come down from the atmosphere they make fog.

Water vapor is released into the atmosphere through evaporation or transipration. Once it goes higher up into the atmosphere it condenses back into a water droplet around a dust particle to make a cloud.

What is a warm front, and what type of weather does it bring?
When a slow moving warm air mass collides with a cold air mass. It causes rain or fog that can last for several days.

A barometer measures the air pressure. By knowing the air pressure a person can determine it if will be clear, cloudy, stormy, or precipitating outside.

When a cloud gets too many water droplets, the water droplets get too heavy to be held by the cloud, so they fall to the ground.

A Stationary front is when a cold air mass and a warm air mass collide but niether is strong enough to push the other one away. Causes rain, snow, clouds, or fog over an area for several days.

High pressure, heavy air, results in usually dryer weather and cooler temperatures. Can also cause blue skies (no clouds), fair nice weather.

Evaporation causes water vapor to rise, the water vapor cools turning into water droplets. Those water droplets form around dust particles in the air and condense to make a cloud.

Water evaporates to make water vapor, which goes up into the atmosphere where is cools and forms water droplets. The water droplets condense around a dust partcle to create a cloud. When the clouds get to heavy the clouds release precipitaion. Precipitation run off the ground into a stream where is accumulates.

What is occluded front? What type of weather does it cause?
This is when a warm air mass is caught in between two cold air masses. The warm air mass is then pushed upward. This causes the weather to be cloudy, rainy or snowy.

A weather map can show you if there is a front (warm, cold, stationary, or occluded) heading your way, it can also tell you about the air pressure in your area, the temperature and any type of precipitation that may fall in your area.

Low pressure usually means wet weather and warmer temperatures. Also causes clouds.
