Homebound or Not Homebound
Mrs. Zenia has been receiving HH services for PT 3 times weekly after a R hip Fx. She would like to go to her granddaughter's graduation out of town next week. If she goes, Mrs. Zenia will no longer be considered homebound?
What is NO! CMS Chapter 7 states, occasional absences from the home to attend special events are reasonable and does not change a member's homebound status.
Mr. Gardner has a chronic stasis ulcer on his left lower extremity. He goes to the outpatient wound clinic weekly and his wife who is a retired RN, has been taught and has demonstrated competency on how to perform 3x/weekly wound care at home. Mr. Gardner is considered skilled for HH RN services for wound care?
What is NO! CMS Chapter 7 States: Services to people who already have access to appropriate care from a willing caregiver would not be considered reasonable and necessary to the treatment of the individual's illness or injury.
Mrs. Lavender is homebound and recovering from a R Total Shoulder Replacement after a MVA. she is having to learn to use adaptive equipment for bathing and dressing and modify the way she performs her ADLs to adhere to her shoulder/lifting precautions.
