An EMT is dispatched to an agricultural building where several workers exit coughing and holding their heads, while two others remain inside. In another call, an intoxicated patient is vomiting and refusing transport, and in a third, a suicidal patient refuses care. Before airway, oxygen, restraint, transport, or patient assessment decisions can safely occur, the EMT must first evaluate and control this priority.
