An undergraduate degree awarded to students usually after two years of classes. This aims to give students the basic technical and academic knowledge and transferable skills they need to go on to employment or further study in their chosen field.

Commencement
The school year that begins with autumn classes. The academic year at most US colleges and universities starts in August or September and ends in May.

this is the most common undergraduate degree in the US and focuses on science and math related courses.

A temporary job, paid or unpaid, usually in the field of your major.
Internship
Type of academic term. A school with this system generally will have a fall and a spring (each about 15 weeks long)
Semester
The number of hours assigned to a specific class.
A student who enrolls in at least a minimum number (determined by your college or university) of credit hours of courses.
Full time Student
This is a postgraduate degree that is the highest academic degree symbolizing that you have mastered a specific area of study, or field of profession. This typically takes 4+ years to complete.
Doctorate
A form of financial aid from a non-profit organization (such as the government) that you do not have to repay.
Grant
Your secondary area of study.

Minor
A class that must be taken before you can take a different class.
Prerequisite
A student who lives in and meets the residency requirements for the state where a public university is located.
Resident
This bachelors degree is two-thirds visual or fine arts, and one-third on liberal arts.
Bachelor of Fine Arts
A form of financial aid that is expected to be paid back with interest.
Loan
The length of time that you take a college class/the school year is broken into.
Term
Courses that count toward your credits for graduation, but are not requirements for your particular degree of study.
Elective
A student who isn’t an official resident of the state where a public university is located.
Non-resident
A degree awarded to graduate students. This requires at least one year of study (and often more, depending on the field) after a student earns a bachelor’s degree.
Masters Degree
An official academic record from a specific school.
Transcript
Type of academic term. A school with this system generally will have a fall, winter and spring (each about 10 weeks long)
Quarter
The number your college or university uses to classify a course. You usually need this number in order to register for a class.
Course Number
A university that is funded usually by tuition and donations.
