What motivated colonists to leave England would be many things. For Jamestown they wanted to leave because they wanted to make money and become rich. However the people who left were not the type of people the were needed in Jamestown. Another motive for people wanting to leave would be freedom. If they moved they could start their own religion and have freedom. Two groups of people that would be the pilgrims and the puritans. To conclude that is how colonists became motivated to leave England and move here.
