What is the truth behind Thanksgiving? What really happened? Give details.

The pilgrims did not throw a party to thank the Wampanoag. In fact, the Wampanoag weren't invited. The pilgrims were celebrating the great harvest and when the natives heard the gun shots, they thought that something bad was happening so they went towards the sound with a lot of their tribe just in case they would have to fight. When they got there, they realized it was a party and the pilgrims told them that they can stay and celebrate with them. So they did, for 3 days.
