What is the differences between state's attorney and a public defender?
States Attorney: A lawyer for the state that is responsible for proving my guilt
Public Defender: A lawyer that is helping me free of charge that has been provided by the state
What does it mean to be competent?
Means that I understand my legal proceedings, my court case, and I can work calmly with my lawyer.
What does PBJ stand for
Probation before judgement.
What is the term for when your lawyer asks you questions in court?
Examination.
When is it your turn to speak in court?
When my lawyer or the judge ask me to speak.
Who is the bailiff?
Keeps order and safety in the court
What is IST and what does it mean?
Incompetent to stand trial: means that I am unable to understand court or unable to work with my attorney
What is a sentence?
Sentence means jail time, probation, fines, or community service following a guilty verdict.
When I am in the community I have a monitor that makes sure I am following all the court rules. What am I on?
Probation.
How should you act in court?
Be respectful and do not speak out without permission

What is a plea bargain?
It means to plea guilty for an agreed upon outcome.
What happens if I am found NCR by the judge
I will return to the hospital for an unknown amount of time until the judge releases me on Conditions of Release.
