A network of networks
What is the Internet?
The part of the computer with all components making up the computer; the highest level of abstraction in Hardware.
What is a Motherboard?
The layer users can interact with
What is the Application Layer?
What is symmetric key encryption?
A network where devices are connected together in a small area, like a school or home.
What is LAN?
The building block of all devices; a single unit representing either a 0 or 1
What is a Transistor?
This layer uses either UDP or the TCP protocol for delivering packets
What is the Transport Layer?
The problem of Alice trying to send a message to Bob without Eve intercepting their connection.
What is the key exchange problem?
A network where a bunch of LAN's connected together for communication
What is an Intranet?
Contains millions of transistors and logic gates; a small chip containing low-level computer components.
What is an Integrated Circuit?
This layer passes down the packets from router to router by sometimes using Ethernet cables
What is the link layer?
One key is used to encrypt and another key is used to decrypt
What is asymmetric key encryption?
The first version of the Internet. Research and testing was done by a group of universities for many years before the Internet got its name.
What is Arpanet?
Used by the Internet Layer to tell routers the destination of the packets.
What is an IP address?
The private key not being sent through the network makes this type of encryption more secure, as Eve cannot guess the private key.
What makes Asymmetric key encryption more secure?
A network where client computers and at least one server was connected to a hub. A server was added to store shared data and retrieve it.
What is a Client-Server LAN?
The heart of the computer, which performs mathematical operations.
What is a CPU?
