Why do we ask the Saints to pray for us, when we can just pray directly to God?
We ask the Saints to pray for us because we are in communion with the living and the dead. The Saints are holy people who will hear our prayers and intercede for us. It's no different than asking a friend here on Earth to pray for us, except that Saints are holier than anyone on Earth. They died living a life of heroic virtue out of love for Jesus. Because of this, they went directly to heaven, and see God face to face. It's super smart to ask them to pray for us!
