What is a creed?
a formal statement of Christian beliefs, especially the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed. The creeds are a way that the church can pass along its "statement of faith" from generation to generation.

When was the Nicene Creed written?
Adopted by the First Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. In 381, it was amended at the First Council of Constantinople, and the amended form is referred to as the Nicene Creed.
Is Christianity the only religion that believes in God as trinity? – one God in three divine persons?
Yes. Although Judaism and Islam are both monotheistic only Christians have recognized God as Trinity.

Why do you think people write creeds or statements of faith?
The creeds tell us the basics of what Christians have believed throughout the centuries. Often, creeds were written to deal with issues that were in dispute. You can sometimes tell why a creed was written by what is in it and by how much space it devotes to a particular topic.
