What is the Eucharist?
The Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is 100% present in the Eucharist
What is original sin? How is it washed away? When washed away, are there any sequels left?
The state of deprivation of the original holiness and justice, transmitted to the descendants of Adam along with human nature. It is washed away by the Sacrament of Baptism. BUT, we are left with concupiscence
Who founded the Catholic Church? When was it founded?
Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church. The Church was born on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles and Our Blessed Mother.

What is the Mass? Why is it so important for us to attend Mass? Who instituted the Mass and when?
It is the highest type of liturgy which perpetuates the timeless sacrifice of Jesus Christ when He was crucified in Calvary. It is very important for us to attend Mass because Jesus told us “do this in remembrance of me” and because in the Mass we receive the Eucharist which unites the whole Church. All graces flow from there which are necessary for our sanctification. Jesus instituted it at the Last Supper
What is concupiscence?
the movement of the sensitive appetite contrary to the operation of the human reason. The senses wanting something that is contrary to our intellect
What is the hierarchy of the Church?
Pope, then Bishops, then Priests, then the Laity

What are the 2 faculties of the spiritual soul? Briefly explain them
Intellect: It is a person’s ability to know and understand
Will: It is a person’s ability to choose and act based upon knowledge and understanding
What is confession? Why is it so important for us to go to confession? What do we gain back in confession after having lost it? Who can absolve you from your sins?
It is a sacrament which Jesus left the Church. In Confession we are telling our sins to the priest who acts in the person of Christ and with the authority of Jesus is able to absolve us from our sins. We gain back sanctifying grace if we had lost it through committing a mortal sin. Only an ordained catholic priest is able to absolve you from your sins.
What is morality? Who says what is morally right and morally wrong?
It is the quality of human actions whereby they are right or wrong. They are good or bad according to God’s Law
Who was the first pope of the Catholic Church? What does his name mean?
St. Peter the Apostle. Jesus changed his name from Simon to Peter which means Rock. That is why Jesus said “upon this rock I will build my church”

Comes from the Greek word “Apostolos” which means messenger. It is an authorized messenger and representative

God created us. The end of man is to save his soul and go to Heaven to be with God forever. We can save our soul by praising, reverencing, and serving God Our Lord. Therefore, we must be “indifferent” and use created goods “in so far” as they help us save our soul and reach our final destination which is Heaven

Is our conscience always right? What do we need to do in order that our conscience is more right? What does it need to conform to?
Our conscience is not always right, we need to comfort it according to the teachings of Jesus Christ by knowing the Bible and knowing the teachings of the Catholic Church. We must fill our conscience with the teachings Jesus Christ in order to differentiate good from evil
What are the 4 marks of the Church? Briefly, in a sentence explain each one
1. One: There is unity, with one liturgy, one worship, one belief.
Holy: Jesus Christ sanctified the Church with his Blood, so the Church who is the Body of Christ is Holy despite the sins of the people.
Catholic: It is Universal, the Church is for everyone as long as they seek repentance and change
Apostolic: The handing of the Apostolic preaching and authority handed down from the Apostles to their successors by the laying of the hands.
Martyr:
Someone who is killed for bearing witness to the faith

What is venial sin? What is mortal sin? How does each one affect our relationship with God? What are the requirements for each
Mortal sin destroys charity in us, deprives us of sanctifying grace, and, if one does not repent, leads us to the eternal death of hell. It can be forgiven in the ordinary way by means of the sacraments of Baptism(only 1 time) and of Penance or Reconciliation(as many as we can/need)
A mortal sin requirements are; all three to be present: grave matter, full knowledge, and deliberate consent
Venial sin does not make us lose sanctifying grace but it weakens our charity and manifests a disordered affection for things of this world. It impedes the progress of a soul sanctity. It merits temporal punishment which purifies
A venial sin requirements are: small matter or if grave matter there is not full knowledge or full consent
What is Jesus Christ’s 3-fold office and how does it relate to the Church?

What is sanctifying grace? Why does this matter in our relationship with God?
It is the grace that makes us part of the Body of Christ, able to receive the other graces God offers and to make use of them to live holy lives. By this we become children of God. We receive it in Baptism, and when lost by mortal sin, we gain it back through Confession
Why was Jesus able to pay for our sins, but we cannot pay for them?
Sin is an infinite offense against an Infinite Being who is God. We are finite beings, and even if every single one of the persons who has ever existed on earth tried to paid back the cost of sin, we would not be able to. Jesus Christ, being 100% God and 100% man, was able to atone our sins, that we could never be able to do.
