NJCL Constitution
The NJCL Constitution establishes this number of elected offices not unlike the number of Pleiades.
What is 7?
There are 7 NJCL offices: President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Communications Coordinator, Parliamentarian, Historian, and Editor.
Although I originally pre-filed for the office of First Vice President, I returned to my roots as this (traditionally nerdy) office that I previously held at both the local and State levels.
What is Parliamentarian?
I'm really not sure why I thought I could do 1VP
Henry Robert wrote Robert's Rules of Order in 1876 in order to standardize meetings in a fair meetings this title word.
What is order?
I did not know that Robert was his last name. I guess I just associated Robert as a first name for a long time.
One of the most used actions in Parliamentary Procedure I this is often mistaken to be I motion.
What is I move?
A majority of the officers have gotten not enough sleep this week forcing us to really on coffee from this place.
What is Starbucks?
The NJCL Constitution contains a baker's dozen of articles or this number in Roman numerals.
What is XIII?
There are thirteen articles.
Don't confuse these two offices! Although both were held by men and revolve around a publication, one creates the scrapbook and the other creates the Torch:US.
What are Historian and Editor?
While Robert's Rules of Order does not mandate a certain constitutional format, it strongly recommends at least this number of articles.
What is 9?
They are Name, Object, Members, Officers, Meetings, Executive Board, Committees, Parliamentary Authority, Amendment.
While not all kinds of motions require this ordinal number, it is used in all of our general assemblies.

As stated in the NJCL Bylaws, the colors of the NJCL shall be this kind of purple and this element.
What are Roman purple and gold?
On the outside president may seem like a simple office, but trust me I think this gorgeous Floridian has had her hands full keeping us on track.

As changing the NJCL Constitution is often more significant than altering the bylaws, Robert's Rules of Order suggest this kind of vote rather than a simple majority.
What is a 2/3 vote?
There are multiple methods of voting but we utilize this method when we yell yay and nay in our general assemblies.
What is a voice vote?
I have a cliche favorite book (Not Roberts's Rules). I also have many many copies (14 to be exact) of this favorite book written by Jane Austen. Don't ask me why I know this but the title can be translated to Superbia et Odium in Latin.
What is Pride and Prejudice?
I like to have a lot of pretty copies.

I've always thought it was a little depressing to think about.
These two offices have the difficult and time consuming task of planning Classicalia. I don't think the time difference between them this year helped much either.

I'm so astounded by them! Their planning was impeccable and you should totally attend next year!
This Latin term refers to the minimum number of members of an assembly or society that must be present at any of its meetings to make the proceedings of that meeting valid.
What is a quorum?
The chair of our general assemblies is not one of the committee members but rather this JCLer who happened to be late to the first general assembly.
Who is the president/ Lilia AitSahlia?
Unfortunately this Historian was unable to attend our Fall Planning Meeting because of pneumonia. Thus all seven offices have only been in the same place one other time besides this convention(when we were running for our offices).

Although we traditionally repeat the words "state your name" instead of replacing them with our names, in this, the penultimate article of the NJCL Bylaws, the tradition is avoided by having the rest of the officers simply say "I do" upon installation.
What is Elections? Or what is Article 6?
In 1992, the NJCL elected offices underwent many changes that have remained till this day. Second Vice President was added, Vice President became First Vice President, and the office of Treasurer was discontinued. But it wasn't until 2010, that this office and Tech Coordinator (added in 2004) were combined to become Communications Coordinator.
What is Secretary?

The reading of these from the last meeting is suggested but in our general assemblies we typically vote to dispense of them.

This third president refined and published his own version of parliamentary procedure many years before it was published in the first edition of Robert's Rules of Order.
