How is medication distributed?
Bonus: What if you don't have AM duty?
Counselors have their small group's medications and are responsible for administering them in the AM and PM.
If you do not have AM duty- give your meds to another counselor on the hall and tell them when and who. Also tell your student to look for a different counselor. in the AM.
What do you do before leaving with students in the car?
Text the number of students in your car to the AD or Residential Coordinator
T/F: Counselors are confidential resources and can keep secrets between themselves and students
False! You are a mandated reporter. If the student tells you something that is going to be harmful to them or is going to harm others, you must immediately contact Kelly and Cole

It is better to pull a student aside and have a conversation rather than to call attention to the student in a public forum. Use discretion
When should FUPO be called?
You smell any kind of smoke

There is severe violence

Someone is severely ill or injured and an ambulance has to be called.
What should you make sure all students do before they exit the vehicle?
Check for and throw away any trash
Is going to a student’s athletic event or school activity alone appropriate?

Explain the difference between On Cally and On Duty
On Call- A counselor is in the dorms and must remain there until they are released.
On Duty- In the classroom acting as a TA
Who should you sit with during meals?
The students! Try to avoid sitting with other counselors
Explain Lights Out Procedures starting at 11 pm and ending at 12 am
1. At least 1 counselor needs to be sitting in the hallway until 11:30. Counselors not in the hallway should have their doors open
2. Make sure all lights are out at 11 pm
3. From 11:30-12:00 the counselors need to have their doors open listening for any noise or movement. If you hear anything, you need to go to the room and address the noise
4. Final lights out check at midnight
When are you permitted to drive a Bridges Vehicle?
When doing work on behalf of Bridges:
Driving students, Picking up supplies or materials, filling the car up with gas, etc
Vehicles can never be driven for personal use.
Is hanging out with students in a common area appropriate?
Yes, if there are at least 3 people
How long are you on duty as a TA and how many others will be with you?
1 week with 4 other counselors.
What do you do if you see a student violating expectations (and they are not putting anyone else or themselves in danger)?
Go to their hall group counselor, who will be responsible for addressing the issue
What should you always be doing when walking with a group of students
COUNTING
Who is allowed to drive a golf cart?
Staff with valid driver's license
Is it okay to add students on social media accounts where you post pictures and videos of you drinking?

What is the Missing Person Procedure?
- Contact the Residential Coordinator or a director.
- An announcement is made through group messages and phone calls
- If the student is not found through these avenues, contact Furman Public Safety.
What do you do if a student discloses an accident of assault (physical, sexual, emotional, mental) to you?
Comfort and believe the student
Inform the Residential Life Coordinator and The Assistant Director immediately
What should be done in the event of an accident?
- Do not panic and keep the students calm.
- All uninjured persons will be gathered and will remain at a single site away from danger and should be supervised by a counselor at all times
- Notify Staff
- All witness phone numbers and addresses will be obtained for future reference.
- Police and or emergency medical personnel should always be called when there are students in the vehicle.
- Make no statements to anyone at the scene about the circumstances of the accident.
A student asks to speak with you alone, what do you do?
Remember the Rule of 3!
Let the student know that you can not be alone with them, however, they can include Kelly or another counselor in the conversation. Let them pick who they feel most comfortable with to give them a sense of power.
