How is medication distributed?

Bonus: What if you don't have AM duty?

Counselors have their small group's medications and are responsible for administering them in the AM and PM. 

If you do not have AM duty- give your meds to another counselor on the hall and tell them when and who. Also tell your student to look for a different counselor. in the AM.

Explain Lights Out Procedures starting at 11 pm and ending at 12 am 

1. At least 1 counselor needs to be sitting in the hallway until 11:30. Counselors not in the hallway should have their doors open

2. Make sure all lights are out at 11 pm 

3. From 11:30-12:00 the counselors need to have their doors open listening for any noise or movement. If you hear anything, you need to go to the room and address the noise

4. Final lights out check at midnight

When doing work on behalf of Bridges:

Driving students, Picking up supplies or materials, filling the car up with gas, etc

Vehicles can never be driven for personal use.

What should be done in the event of an accident?

- Do not panic and keep the students calm.  

- All uninjured persons will be gathered and will remain at a single site away from danger and should be supervised by a counselor at all times

- Notify Staff

- All witness phone numbers and addresses will be obtained for future reference.  

- Police and or emergency medical personnel should always be called when there are students in the vehicle.  

- Make no statements to anyone at the scene about the circumstances of the accident.

Remember the Rule of 3!

Let the student know that you can not be alone with them, however, they can include Kelly or another counselor in the conversation. Let them pick who they feel most comfortable with to give them a sense of power.
