Quarantine keeps someone who might have been exposed to the virus away from others.

At this time, without a positive test result from the student, contact tracing cannot begin. *Encourage/Educate Parent importance of testing, and provide extended quarantine dates to both children, noting extension of quarantine might occur if additional student develops symptoms.

Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

A student recently travelled to Puerto Rico, what quarantine guidelines apply in this scenario?

PR is considered domestic travel, and the students can test 72 hours prior to arriving back in CT, and/or test any time after arrival. If they don’t test, they have to quarantine for 10 days

*All international travel requires a 10-day quarantine

What information is important to capture when assessing a symptomatic student (provide minimum of 3 examples)?

Date of symptom onset, list of symptoms, any recent travel and/or known ill exposures, any additional district students/staff in the household, any previous health condition potentially related to current symptoms, Pending test results date, when was student last on-site?

How would you determine a positive students infectious period?

start 2 days prior from symptom onset, or 2 days prior from an asx + test, then add 10 days. 

*If individual is still symptomatic on days 11-14 they are still likely to transmit Covid-19--adjust extended quarantine as needed.

A student has tested positive on 3/2, with symptom onset on 3/1, what initial return to school date should be provided to the students siblings?

3/24/21 calculate infectious period (subtract 2 days from sx onset or +asx test, then add 10 days), then add 14 days from last date of infectious period (as long as the POSITIVE individual is no longer symptomatic ON DAY 10)

Please describe the different quarantine periods for Staff vs Students, and provide the reason behind these differences.

Staff are expected to quarantine for 10 days regardless of reason to quarantine. Students must quarantine for 14 days, unless they are positive (10 days in this scenario, +symptom free 24 hours). 

*Staff are able to return after 10 days (+24 hours symptom clear) since they utilize Kokomo as a symptom checker, *Students are unable to accurately symptom monitor
