Types of Poetry
A type of poem where each letter in a word is used as the first letter for another word that describes the original word.
What is an acrostic?
Instead of telling the reader something directly the author shows it to them through the way a character acts and speaks.
What is Show Don't Tell?
A story with a fully developed theme but significantly shorter and less elaborate than a novel.
What is a short story?
A type of poem that is in the shape of a diamond.
What is a diamante?
First president of the United States.

Japanese poem with three lines following a 5-7-5 structure.
What are Haikus?
The way in which characters speak to each other in literature.
What is dialogue?
A type of story that is typically less than 300 words long, but can be as short as 100.
What is micro fiction/micro novel?
A form of poetry where pages of already existing writing a blacked out to leave words that form a poem.
What is blackout poetry?
This country is known for having had a strong navy, colonizing large parts of the world, and loving their monarch.

A type of freeform poem that is usually spoken aloud and recited from memory.

Examples of this include alliteration, similes, and metaphors.

A poem that glorifies or praises something that originated in ancient Greece.
