Explain the Nelson v. Correctional Medical Services case in detail.

Shawanna Nelson was an inmate in Arkansas who filed charges against the Correctional Medical Services for violating her 8th Amendment rights. While 9 months pregnant, Nelson was handcuffed and chained as she was escorted down the long prison corridor and transported to the hospital. Nurse Smith claims that Nelson did not present any escape risks or risks of violence, as she was in the middle of contractions and had to stop multiple times due to the pain she was experiencing. At the hospital, the nurses consistently asked the guard to remove the shackles for ease of delivery and for the safety of both Nelson and her unborn child. The guard refused, except when the nurses measured dilation, until she was more than 9cm dilated and was headed into the delivery room with the doctor. She now suffers from back pain and her surgeon suggests it is due to her inability to move freely during labor. Also, she was told she can no longer have other children due to the pain she experiences. Still, the court ruled that it was not unconstitutional because the guard had a right to ensure that the prisoner did not escape and Nelson did not present medical evidence that the restraints harmed her son in the process of delivery.
