What is the first step in completing a search?
Comparing the intake data against the request form and correcting any errors.

How do you avoid entering the wrong information into CRS on the intake?
Close each request form upon completion of the intake.
If information is missing, what do you do?
Circle the field in blue highlighter.
Form received without payment, client calls and asks to hold until payment is sent. What is the correct procedure for this?
Enter into CRS as a Pre-Intake.
Return to client with letter.
The requestor information is incorrect and it won’t let you correct it. Why can’t you correct it and what do you do?
Send reference id to supervisor as you can’t correct it due to billing cycle
What is the purpose of a CRS search?
To determine if a finding of child abuse/neglect was found against an applicant.
One of the fields on the form is circled, what does this mean?
This is an error and an error letter must be generated.
What do you check for on page 2 of the request form?
Applicant's signature, Parent’s signature if applicant is under 18, Notary information is completed and signed by Notary and includes the Notary stamp/seal.
How long are money orders valid?
USPS MO are good for 3 years. All others are good for 1 year.
The intake data is missing information. Can you fail it? What do you do?
No, you search it as is.
What is the difference between a CRS search and a criminal background search?
CRS - searches for child abuse/neglect
CRIMINAL - fingerprint based with convictions compared against barrier crimes.
The applicant is a minor, but their parent/guardian has signed the form. Does the applicant need to sign it as well and why?
No, minors cannot sign a legal document.
Applicant’s date of birth is 1/17/2003, but signs and has the form notarized on 1/5/2021. Is this an error?
Yes, the applicant was not 18 on 1/5/21, so a parent signature is required.
What are the steps to enter a Pre-Intake in CRS?
Log in as Worker
Click on Intake Tab and then Create Pre-Intake
Enter information for all tabs and SAVE
Send letter with request and payment to requestor.
You find a potential match to the applicant. What do you do?
Click on the finding and add it to the potential match list, then send to match desk.
Ture or False: The spouse’s maiden name was omitted, so I send out an error letter.
False, this is not a mandatory field.
There is no code on the form and no payment attached. What do you do?
Type the requestor name in the search box to determine if there is an agency code. If not, fail the request for lack of payment and request payment be sent to Lois, then send reference id to supervisor.
