What is holistic representation?

Holistic Representation is a client-centered approach that aims to address more than just the legal needs a client may have. With having an Attorney and Advocate work together, we can ensure that we effectively address other barriers in a client's life, that clients receive proper emotional support and crisis intervention, and make certain that clients leave LLA more resourced.

For both teams, please provide your understanding of what it means to be a Team. Take 5 minutes with your team to build a solid definition. Both teams are eligible for 100 points!

For me, a team consists of individuals who work together towards a goal and who help each other reach that goal. A team provides a safe space for support and correction. A team include members who are willing to set aside their pride and ego to support and uplift their teammates. A team celebrates wins and works together to better the collective when there are losses and challenges. A team appreciates the value each and every person brings to the table. Team members are aware of their behavior, attitudes, and how they show up and treat each other. Members of a team may not always agree with each other, but they will ALWAYS maintain respect for each other. A team can navigate conflicts constructively using disagreements and understanding rather than division. A team promotes and enhances collaboration instead of separation. A team consist of diverse individuals with varying levels of skills and experience and uses that to enhance problem solving and creativity when combining viewpoints and experience.

What is tasking and why do we use it?

Tasking is the process of inviting a Client Support Advocate onto a case, whether that be an advice only case or a case receiving full representation. Client Support Advocates can also task attorneys back to schedule meetings and for other necessary activities. We use tasking to create a seamless process, ensure communication between Attorneys and Advocates, and to keep activities documented in Justice Server.

Must a CSA have a social work background or degree in order to be hired or complete CSA tasks? Why or why not?

No, a social work degree, social work background, or licensure is NOT required to be hired or maintain employment as a CSA. Lakeshore values previous work experience as well as personal experience that our advocates bring to the table. You are here because you deserve to be here!!

Explain the policy for mileage reimbursement and provide the equation that should be used.

Neither mileage nor commute time will be paid for travel from the employee’s home to their first destination of the day, or from their last destination of the day to their home, except when that mileage and travel time exceeds the employee’s commute time and mileage from the employee’s home to their assigned office.

In that instance, the employee may bill travel time exceeding the employee’s home-to assigned office commute and Lakeshore will reimburse the employee only for those miles exceeding the home-to-assigned office distance. If an employee travels to more than one location for employment purposes during any given day, the employee may bill for the travel time and mileage between the employee’s first stop and last stop of the day.

Total Mileage-Regular Commute= Compensable Mileage
