1. All eligible explorers may ride day shift.
2. Eligible explorers <18 are NOT ALLOWED on swing ride-alongs past 0000 hours (midnight)/graveyard ride-alongs.
3. Eligible explorers ≥18 may ride Swing shift, but NOT PAST 0200 hours, UNLESS with a Post Advisor/have prior approval from a Post Advisor.
4. If the explorer is ≥18, he/she may ride graveyard IF with a Post Advisor/have prior approval from a Post Advisor.
5. The first ride-along must be with a CSI Post Advisor.

What are things an explorer can AND cannot do? (Name 4 of each)
CAN:
1. Operate the radio
2. Operate the MDT
3. Assist in completing reports
4. Interact with victims/citizens (not suspects)
5. Accompany CSAs/Officers into residences and scenes, including private property
6. Assist with crime scene diagrams
CANNOT:
1. Handle/carry firearms, alcohol or narcotics
2. Drive the vehicle
3. Have suspect contact
4. Accompany a CSA on a call with a high threat level to personnel. This should be evaluated on a call by call basis by the CSA. In these circumstances, the CSA should determine if the Explorer can simply remain in the vehicle or if they should be dropped off somewhere safe. Supervisors are to monitor this process to ensure the safety of the explorer.
5. Fingerprint process any scene or take elimination fingerprints
