Have the victim sit down, lean forward, pinch their nose, and breathe through their mouth.  The nosebleed should stop after a few minutes.  If it continues for more than 20 minutes, seek medical assistance

What is the correct first aid to give someone who has a mild burn or scald?

Carefully remove any loose clothing covering the burn.  Tell and adult.  Run the burn area under cool water for 20 minutes.  Keep the rest of the person warm.  

DO NOT:  Remove anything that is stuck to a burn, touch a burn, apply tight tapes, dressings, or anything fluffy.  

Only call 9-1-1 if the burn area is large or the person goes into shock

Shock is a normal reaction to many emergencies.  It is the process of the body temporarily shutting down the normal flow of blood.  How do you treat shock?

Have the victim lie down on their back and elevate their feet slightly.  If they are conscious, get them to take some deep breaths and give them some water to sip.  If they suffer from chills, offer them a blanket.  If shock continues, seek medical attention.
