  • Involved in Little Rock Nine → tried to stop the governor’s plans but Faubus remains uncooperative,  sent 101st Airbone Division (Screaming Eagles) to protect the students

  • He also federalized the Arkansas National Guard (took control of them, instead of them reporting to Governor Faubus they would now report to him) 

  • “Mob rule cannot be allowed to override the decisions of our courts." → government has to be fair + equal to all, uphold rule of law

Describe the Panic of 1837 during Van Buren's presidency. 

  • All of Jackson’s policies caused the financial crisis called the Panic of 1837 during Van Buren’s presidency. 

  • When Jackson destroyed the bank as president it created the worst economic depression in all of U.S. history. 

  • The effects are as follows: Businesses + Banks closed down, loss of land, and overall economic hardship. 

  • In response to the Panic of 1837, Van Buren opposed any changes, he just continued Jackson’s policies, and economic hardship got worse.

Harriet Tubman was a house servant and had the ability to go to town. However, being a house servant leads to her getting a life-long injury. Describe how she got this injury as well as its impact. 

How she got it: she refused to stop an enslaved boy from running away from his master while at a store. The white man then aimed to hit a heavy weight at the boy but it ended up hitting Harriet Tubman instead. 

Impact: she had epilepsy, falling constantly in deep sleep, like Nat Turner she claims that she’s able to communicate with god

    3. At a comic laugh during the play, that would be his cover-up to kill Lincoln 

    4. Lincoln’s bodyguard got bored and left 

    5. After killing, A.L. Booth broke free and landed on stage from the box, breaking his leg
