Why is it important to do daily enrichment?
It improves the well-being of our animals. It gives them something to stimulate their day. It is a USDA regulation.

If you are with a group and see an escaped animal. What is your next step?
Radio staff to ask for help while watching the animal, send one person to ring the emergency bell and relay information, wait for trained help and shut all doors that could keep the animal contained near the enclosure.

-Stop the student
-Radio for help
-Get net, try to push bird from outside back into exhibit, then open and secure doors.
You find a person unaccompanied and unresponsive on the path. What are your next steps?
-Access the scene to make sure you will be safe approaching the patient
-Radio for help
-Shake person and ask are you ok?
-Start chain of call for emergency response and give first aid.
If an animal is not looking well, whose responsibility is it to get the animal help?
All of us! You are trained to recognize and report strange animal behavior.
If a socially housed animal is currently alone due to circumstance, is there a formal policy of care for that animal? What could it include?
Yes, enrichment, training, increased welfare evaluations and medical plans
What is one program we participate in to conserve animals in the wild?
SAFE Red Panda, SAFE American Red Wolf, SAFE Chinchilla, SAFE Songbird
One of the lemurs in a group is outside of the exhibit in the building. what do you do?
Secure the building, secure the rest of the lemur group, get appropriate staffing and capture equipment. If possible shift group to a space where lemur can be given a soft capture option back into the exhibit, if not recapture in crate, shift group then release back into exhibit.
Whose safety is more important during a fire? Animals, visitors or staff?
all human life should be first priority.

Any zoo staff member. We have access files and documents on all our animals comings and goings. Sometimes we don't know all the answers but we are happy to help.
