I am going to be starting UC Davis in the Fall, and to be honest, I haven't done anything for Orientation yet. Did I miss Aggie 101?
Aggie 101 is still accessible through the MyAdmissions checklist or at aggie101.ucdavis.edu. You technically did not miss anything but should be sure to catch up before your registration time, which is coming up very soon!
I just completed Aggie 101, and I was wondering why I need to do Aggie Advising too? Aren't they the same thing?
Aggie 101 is a general overview of UC Davis, so you should have learned about campus resources and expectations in that program. Aggie Advising is focused on academic support. You will still want to complete that program as well because it prepares you for course registration.
I'm confused... Didn't I just do Orientation online? Why am I supposed to attend Aggie Orientation too?
So if you already completed Aggie 101 and Aggie Advising, that's great. Those are parts of Orientation. We also have Aggie Orientation in September because it will provide you with some opportunities that you can't really get online. For example, students will tour campus and attend a career networking event with campus partners.
My daughter is coming to UC Davis in the fall, and I'm a bit confused by all the different departments and requirements and everything. Am I able to attend Orientation with her, or is there some sort of parent Orientation I can do?
Yes, absolutely! Our Aggie Orientation in September is for students only, but we do have lots of resources we can provide for you as a family member.
So firstly, you can also go through Aggie 101 on a Guest account. Aggie 101 is the online program that all incoming students complete, and it familiarizes them with campus resources and expectations.
Secondly, we offer a free, online orientation for parents & families. It's on August 11-15, and you can register for it on our website, under the Aggie Parents and Supporters tab.
I don't know if you're the right office to help me, but I don't know what to do. I submitted my AP scores late, and now I got an email saying they're not going to deliver to UC Davis in time. Will I get in trouble for this?
Unfortunately, we aren't able to check on transcript or score statuses in our office, and we don't determine any consequences related to that. However, I can give you the number for the Undergraduate Admissions office, and they should be able to help.
I have been trying to access Aggie 101 for weeks now, and it just won't work. Every time I try to start it, it says "Server Runtime Error". Can you help?
Yes! Did you create your UCD email address in the past 48 hours? If so, you may just need to wait, so the system can process your new account.
If you did create your address over 48 hours ago, can you please provide your SID, and I will have my supervisor check on this for you?
I'm trying to make my advising appointment at the end of Aggie Advising, but it says there are no available appointments. Can you schedule one for me?
No, you will need to reach out to your College directly. The Colleges provide appointments on a rolling basis, so they should be able to let you know when more appointments open up. Do you know what College you're in? I can provide you their contact information.
I'm a parent of an incoming student, and I need to plan when we're coming to campus to drop them off. What are the dates of Aggie Orientation?
Aggie Orientation takes place on September 17, 18, and 19 for transfer students, and September 19, 20, and 22 for first-year students. If your student will be living with Student Housing, though, then they will move in within the days before Aggie Orientation (so approximately September 15-17).
I have a disability that makes long days of walking very hard on me. What kind of accommodations or exemptions does your office offer?
In terms of getting around campus, we are typically able to provide transportation for students During Aggie Orientation. However, all accessibility requests must first go through the Student Disability Center. Please email them at sdc@ucdavis.edu to further explain your situation, and they will then work with the Orientation team from there.
I'm trying to submit my immunization records but keep getting an error message. Can you please help me bypass this error?
Unfortunately, immunization records are actually processed by the Student Health & Counseling Services department. The fastest way to reach them is through the Health-e-Messaging online portal, where you are currently trying to submit your records. There will be an option to indicate that your message is about immunization records, so it will be forwarded to their immunization nurse.
I've been trying to access the modules at the end of Aggie 101 and they aren't working. It's the "Alcohol101" page, and when I click it, the whole page is just blank.
This is a problem that a few other students have had as well. Can you please complete the form that is linked in Aggie 101 for tech support?
It can take multiple weeks to get access. In the meantime, feel free to move onto Aggie Advising in Canvas.
While Aggie 101 was already due, the Vector Solutions modules aren't due until September 1st. On the off-chance that we aren't able to get you access, we will either extend the deadline or mark them as "optional" for you, so you are not penalized.
I see that there are webinars as part of Aggie Orientation. What are they, and am I required to do them too?
These webinars are designed to provide additional information to incoming students. We have two series of webinars: one focuses on course registration prep, and the other focuses on campus resources (like financial aid and student accounting).
You are not required to attend these webinars, but we strongly encourage that you do. Registration links can be found in your UC Davis email inbox.
I'm calling to let you know that I won't be able to attend Aggie Orientation, I already have something planned. Will I be penalized for this?
Firstly, if you are unable to attend Aggie Orientation, you will not receive any sort of academic penalty. This means that there won't be anything like a registration hold on your account.
However, because the Orientation program is deemed mandatory by the university, and we are making arrangements with a certain number of students in mind, you will still be charged the Orientation fee.
If your situation is extreme and you believe warrants an exemption from the fee, please fill out the exemption request form on our website.
I was looking on your website, and I see that you have an Orientation Grant for people who can't afford the Orientation Fee. How do I go about signing up for this?
The Financial Aid Office will disburse the Orientation Grant. They are in charge of determining who is eligible for that grant, so if you have questions about eligibility, I would recommend talking to them directly. If you'd like, I can provide their number for you.
I'm no longer planning to attend UC Davis, so can you remove me from Orientation and all UC Davis communications?
Because you already submitted your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), you will need to cancel it with the Undergraduate Admissions office. The easiest way to do this is online. If you access your MyAdmissions task list, canceling your SIR is an option (to the right of the actual checklist).
You may also call the Undergraduate Admissions office directly for more help, or to learn about deferring your admissions.
