When should a cadet salute a CAP officer?
The cadet should salute in situations prescribed by CAP regulations, including appropriate encounters with officers while outdoors and in uniform.
How should you address a CAP officer when using their name? Give an example.
Use their grade/title followed by their last name.
Example: “Good afternoon, Lieutenant Doe.”
What does it mean to “report” to a CAP officer?
Reporting means formally approaching an officer to communicate with them about a specific matter, while maintaining proper military customs and courtesies.
Two cadets are walking toward each other. One is a cadet officer and the other is an enlisted cadet. Who initiates the salute?
The junior person initiates the salute.

When directly speaking to a CAP officer, what should you use to address them?
Use “sir” or “ma'am.”
Example:
Officer: “Cadet, did you complete your task?”
Cadet: “Yes, sir.”
When reporting to a CAP officer, what should you say after approaching the officer?
"Sir/Ma'am", "Cadet [Grade/Name] Reporting as ordered"
Example: "Ma'am, C/2d Lt. Bondar reporting as ordered"
You're walking outside in uniform and see a CAP officer approaching. You're carrying something in both hands. What should you do?
Drop all of your items if safe to do so, then salute and greet the officer. OR put the item that is in your right hand to your left hand. so you are able to salute.
You should generally keep your right hand clear so that you are able to salute.

You are introducing a CAP officer to a group. How should you properly identify the officer?
Identify them by their grade/title and last name.
Example:
“Everyone, this is Lieutenant Doe, our squadron deputy commander.”
DEMONSTRATE:
An officer has told you to report to them. Show us how you would properly report.
The cadet approaches the officer with proper military bearing, renders the appropriate courtesy, and reports:
“Sir/Ma’am, Cadet [Grade/Name] reporting as ordered"
Demonstrate the correct response.
What did you do, and why
A CAP officer walks up to you and says, “Cadet, I need you to take care of something for me.” How should you respond? Demonstrate it.
Respond by addressing the officer as “sir” or “ma’am.”
Example: “Yes, sir.” / “Yes, ma’am.”
You report to an officer, but the officer is already talking to someone else. What should you do?
Wait respectfully until the officer is available, unless the officer acknowledges or directs you to approach. Do not interrupt the conversation.
What's Wrong.
You are talking to another cadet about a CAP officer. The officer then walks over and speaks directly to you.
Demonstrate how you would properly address the officer in both situations.

An officer instructs you to report to them. You arrive, report properly, receive instructions, and are then told, “That will be all, Cadet.”
Demonstrate the entire interaction from beginning to end.
The cadet should properly approach and report to the officer, identify themselves and state the purpose of reporting, appropriately acknowledge the officer's instructions, and properly conclude the interaction and depart with military bearing.
