Elements of Hip Hop
This is the first element of hip hop we discussed in class, which involves DJ Kool Herc and creating your own music.
DJing
This move includes opening and closing your knees in a fluid motion while scooping both hands also in a fluid motion.
The Butterfly
This style includes placing your arms and hands in very specific pictures and angles to the beat of a song.
Tutting
This is the first and last name of your teacher for this class.
Madeleine Townsend
This character is Kora's favorite Disney character.
Stitch
This is another element of hip hop discussed, which includes B-Boys and B-Girls and a type of dancing.
Breaking/Break Dancing
This style/move includes individual moves such as a wrist roll, point, clap, and lock.
Locking
This move is performed by punching down while your legs open and slide apart then picking your arms up while you scoot onto one foot and bring your other knee up.
The Running Man
These two people are the co-directors of Imagine Theatre.
Alec Martinez and Laura Pickthorn.
This is the show you guys most often requested music from.
Hamilton
An element of hip hop that is more of a visual art form that can be considered illegal in some scenarios.
Graffiti
This move was described by Madeleine by using the metaphor of a giraffe going down to pick up its food and then swallowing its food and sitting back down.
Body roll or snake.
This style includes movements that involve various muscles contracting/freezing.
Popping
This person is the class coordinator for Imagine Theatre.
Gina Lee
This is when your showcase video was due.

An element of hip hop which is short for "Master of Ceremonies" and includes entertaining the audience and introducing groups/performers.
MCing
This move includes a running/rocking in place motion then pushing your arms around in a circle to face the other direction.
The Cabbage Patch
This move involves a rocking motion while one foot crosses in front of the other with your arms open, then you jump both feet together with your arms crossed in front of you.
Top Rock
This person is considered the father of hip hop and was known for his tall speakers.
DJ Kool Herc.
This is the name of the platform our class had the most visual and audio issues with throughout the session.
Zoom
Trick Question: This is considered an additional fifth element of hip hop. (We did not discuss this, so if you get it correct you get a virtual gold star).
Knowledge
This move/sequence of moves was not taught in class because everyone said they had previously learned it/already knew it.
The Cupid Shuffle
This move is a famous trend from a few years ago that was seen on many social media applications, but is not as famous anymore. It is not Madeleine's favorite.
Whip and/or Nae Nae
Similar to DJ Kool Herc, this person is a founding member of hip hop whose name is the same (but spelled differently) as a country.
Afrika Bambaataa
This is the magical place Madeleine worked at for a month and a half.
