What is a lot. Good journals are very specific and include a lot of detail.
100
It is okay to skip the accomplishment section from time to time.
False. Since you are given time at the end of every day to write out your accomplishments, this needs to happen EVERY day.
200
This is copied down word for word from the board, into the notebook and is the second thing written in the journal each day.
What is the thought of the day (TOTD).
200
This section is important because...
Highly effective people take time during their day to note things that went well for them or that they are greatful for. We are all striving to become highly effective and successful people so it is a good habbit to get into.
200
Goals should (stay the same, change) from day to day.
What is change. Even if you did not accomplish your goal from the day before, it is a good idea to challenge yourself with a new goal each day.
200
"I want to be good because it is nice." This is an example of a (complete, incomplete) journal entry.
What is an incomplete entry. 1 sentence does not make up a journal entry. A better entry would go something like this: "I want to be a good person because Jesus taught us the importance of being kind to one another. I think that we should try to follow in his footsteps and love others always. My faith is very important to me and how I choose to behave."
200
The date needs to be at the top of EVERY journal.
True. The first thing you write down should be the date.
300
This section is made up of a brief explanation of the TOTD.
What is the "I think the TOTD means..." section.
300
True or False: No matter what kind of day you had, there is always something to be proud of yourself for doing.

True. If you have a concern you need to communicate with Ms. Anderson or a journal entry you would like her to read, you can turn in your journal on any day.
400
The proper way to format the accomplishment section
What is a description of something you did well that day or something that you acheived. *If you failed to accomplish your goal, you must think of something else you acheived that day-Do not write that you didn't accomplish your goal. This section is ALWAYS positive.*
400
An example of a properly formatted accomplishment.
What is (student answers will vary). Sample answer: I was proud of myself because today I helped my elbow partner understand a question they were struggling with in math.
400
The reason we write "I will..." instead of "I might... or I will try to..."
Goals that are formatted in this way are much more likely to be accomplished. If we write goals with language that gives us wiggle room, we will use it but if we write goals that are concrete, we will be more motivated to try.
400
Other things that might be included in a journal entry.
What is any communication or concerns you may need to share with the teacher.
400
I don't need to turn in my journal on my color day because Ms. Anderson doesn't read them anyway.
False. I read all of the journals that are turned into me on a color day. I also keep track of who turned in their journal and who did not.
500

What is Date, TOTD, I think the TOTD means..., Goal, Journal, Accomplishment.

500
The five parts of a well formatted goal.
What is attainable/reachable, measurable (I know when I've accomplished it), begins with "I will..." statement, includes a plan/steps, and is specific.
500
An example of a great journal entry if the question were: How do you feel about soccer?
What is (student answers will vary) Sample answer: I love playing soccer. Ever since I was a little kid, my friends and I have played together. Whenever I am feeling sad, playing soccer can always make me feel better. I also love to watch soccer on television. Basically, it is my favorite thing in the world.
500
It's okay if I forget to turn in my journal on my color day, I can turn it in the next day for full credit.
False. Journals will only receive credit if they are turned in on the correct day. There are no excuses (except absence) for not turning in a journal since I remind you several times at the end of each day what color needs to be turned in.
