They determined in their hearts to trust God even when they were in exile and forced to learn the Babylonian ways. They didn't eat the food offered to idols, they did not bow to other gods like everyone else.

God judged Judah for their sin and allowed Nebuchadnezzar to defeat King Jehoiakim. Nebuchadnezzar took the young boys from noble families captive to be raised in Babylon.
