What is a pictograph?
A graph that include symbols to show data and a key.
What is a bar graph?
a graph that includes bars to represent data/
What is a line plot?
A graph that uses a line and x's to represent data.
What is the mode mean in a set of numbers?
The number that occurs the most.
What is a tally table?
A table that uses tally marks to show data collected from a survey.
How do you read a pictograph?
You look at the number of symbols per each category and also read they key to see how many each symbol represents.
How do you label a bar graph?

With x's

5 tally marks
If one picture represents 2 items, how many items do you have if you see 4 pictures?

If you have 5 apples, 3 bananas, and 7 oranges, how would you represent this on a bar graph?
the apple bar would be a bar up to the number 5
the banana bar would be up to the number 3
the orange bar would be up to the number 7

If you have the numbers 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, how would you represent this on a line plot?
number 2 would have 2 x's, the other numbers would only have 1 x.
How do you find the mode of the numbers 3, 5, 3, 7, and 9.
3 is represented two times so it is the mode.
If you have a tally table showing 3 tallies for apples, how many apples do you have?

Why is it helpful to use pictures in a pictograph?
The pictures make the graph easy to read

Why might you use a line plot instead of a bar graph?
when looking at changes or trends over time
How do you find the mean of the numbers 2, 4, and 6?
add the 3 numbers together and then divide by 3.
Why do we use a tally table?
when we collect data from a survey- to help keep track of the data collected to put into a graph
How can pictographs be used to show data about your favorite animals?
You can use a symbol to show how many votes were collected for each animal in the survey.
When might you choose to use a bar graph instead of a pictograph?
when you have a larger number of categories and people to compare.
How can you find the number of times a number appears in a line plot?
count the number of "X"s or dots above that number on the number line.
How would you explain mean to a friend?
add all the numbers together in the data set, then divide by how many numbers there are in the data set.
