Looking over Jeopardy game in preparation for the review session led by group 1 on Sept 25.
What are we doing today?
Group 1 will have to manage the review on this day?
Who will have to manage the review on the 25th?
A summative assessment that is evaluated for a grade.
What are we doing on Oct 2, 2019 for 24 hours?
The material in our external and internal environment that is considered actively in working memory.
What is attention?
Using a very different way to structure what we are learning so that we can remember it and link it up with a variety of concepts.
Why is elaboration important for learning?
Learning activities that provide an opportunity to be in the learning zone without being worried about a grade. This way one can receive feedback and reflect on it without the "performance" zone hanging over our heads.
What is formative assessment?
Depending on the construct being measured, 24 hours is an appropriate time for measuring deeper and not surface learning.
Why should time not be a factor in specific assessments?
Having to pay attention to multiple source of information can degrade the learning of any one source.
What is multi-tasking?
If we were to leave this until the day before, it would tax our brains and not allow real learning to occur.
Why is cramming a bad idea?
Jeopardy provides a way in which to train our minds to think differently. For example, having to come up with questions to "answer" answers.
What is being aware of multiple ways of learning?
Being able to consult corresponding or allowable materials for the purpose of completing an assessment?
What is open-book exam?
Planning ahead or setting time aside to attend to specific information.
What is self-regulation?
