Hypocrisy
Arguing that something is true because others believe or say it to be true (even if it may not be)
Bandwagon/Appeals to popular opinion
Pre-prepared set of arguments prepared in speeches. We worked on a few of these this year (Word is not trial but it's close)
Case
Attacking the person instead of the argument
Ad Hominem
Putting words in someone's mouth, exaggerating or falsifying an argument to make it easier to win
Straw Man
Consequences or importance of an argument.
Impact
Slippery slope
A distraction away from what is really going on and happening. Taking attention away
Red Herring
Arguers colliding in their argument/engaging and refuting with opponent is called a ______
Clash
Proposing two opposing options as the only possibility but more exist (not sides in debate but in an argument)
False dilemma
Repeating the same idea over again without even providing genuine evidence
Begs the question (begging the question/circular reasoning)
The everyday normal or the current state of affairs
Status Quo
Jumping to conclusions or assumptions
Hasty generalization
Claiming something is true because an expert says it is even though they lack expertise or reason
Appeal to Authority
An outline given by a debater before a speech showing the order (no it's not an outline but think similar)
