Stages of Clay
This is the first stage of clay, used to attach two pieces of clay, mostly water with clay.
What is Slip?
You have to do this to clay before working with it, especially when going on the pottery wheel.

This tool is the best tool to use when smoothing cracks out of your clay project.
What is a wet paintbrush?
A hollow form project has this inside of it to keep it from exploding in the kiln.
What is paper?
When your clay is (This Dry) it is ready to be fired in the Kiln.
What is Bone Dry?
Why it is called "Wheel Throwing"
What is because you THROW the clay onto the wheel in the beginning.
This glaze is NOT food safe, but has cool colors that burst inside the kiln.
What is Bursty Glazes, or Jungle Gems?
You used this technique when building your house
What is Slab Building?
This is the length of time a piece of pottery is in the kiln for.
What is 24 hours.
A piece of clay that has been fired in the kiln but not yet glazed.
What is a Bisque piece?
This is the main component of wheel throwing, it is what you do with the clay when it first goes on the wheel.
What is Centering?
This glaze is not shiny, if you wanted it to be shiny you could put clear over it.
The first project we made was a water dish that used this technique.
What is Pinch or Pinch Pot?
This is the approximate temperature that the kiln reaches during a firing.

This is what you do to attach two pieces of clay together.
You need this tool while wheel throwing to keep you clay and hands wet.
