What is deforestation?
Lots of people have heard of deforestation but what is it really? Deforestation is the process of destroying, clearing and fully removing trees, most of the time this is intentional. This is because it makes space for agriculture and urbanization.
What communities is it affecting?
The types of communities that are being affected the most by deforestation currently are indigenous and local communities. This is due to their dependence on the forests around them for their basic needs like food, shelter, medicine, and water. In many cases the people whom are destroying the forest are forcing these people out of their homes without any other choice.
What are the negative aspects of deforestations?
Deforestation is a negatively affecting countless many ecosystems, it destroys may species’ home and food source, it elevates and contributes to climate change, and it is causing the unfortunate death of multilevel species around the globe.
What can we do to stop or change this?
There can be many ways to stop something as widespread as deforestation. Some of the way our group have produced is being more self sufficient to needs like paper, replanting the forests after cutting them down, eating less meat or making better and more efficient agriculture farms, and raising awareness for this problem.
What species is it affecting?
Deforestation is happening all around the world and there for it affects a wide range of animals. Over all the animals being most affected currently are the jaguar, rhino, different monkey species like the chimp and orangutans, then monarch butterfly’s, not to mention the countless bird species.
What are the benefits?
The clearance of forests can make way for agricultural expansions. This can allow countries to increase food production which in turn incentives industries like farming which creates jobs and boost economies. Trees are also used to make paper which has a plentiful amount of uses that are important.
What countries is it affecting the most?
Deforestation is happening all over the world. However, it is mostly happening in tropic regions like Australia, India, Bolivia, and Russia. Now the two places that are being hit the hardest by deforestation is Brazil and Indonesia.
