These are the two main types of accounts in WMS. One type is used to check out materials, the other type are library staff accounts and should not be used to check out materials.
What are user accounts and login accounts?

This is the preferred method of finding a UNCG patron's record if their ID will not swipe or they present a valid photo ID other than a Spartan Card.
What is typing in their UNCG ID number?

When you first pull up a patron's record, it automatically opens to the Checkout tab. This tab is where notes will pop up, you can see a general overview of the patron's account, and the item list, which displays this information and corresponding important date. Hint, the info. on a receipt is generated from the item list.
What is materials a patron has checked out and when they're due?

We do not do this for stacks items, current lit, YA, paperbacks, and audiobooks. Wallets everywhere, rejoice!

Checking the cubbies, you see there are patron registrations and technology agreements to file. Check to make sure the forms have been this before filing. Hint: You're looking for Jackie Gaither or another staff's initials in a certain spot.

Hold on! Next to the Checkout tab is the Holds tab. This tab displays scheduled instructional items Cathy R. might put on a faculty's account and more commonly, the status of these eponymous requests patrons put on checked out materials. (Google eponymous if you don't know the definition).

Carol got a new Spartan Card after losing hers in a spelunking accident. When you swipe her card, a message pops up saying the barcode is not recognized. After finding her patron record, you check the profile tab and see that the barcode field has not yet been updated to match the barcode of her new card. Do not do this: we wait for Banner to do it.

~Can you pay my bills, can you pay my library bills...~ Next to the Holds tab is the Bills tab, which displays patron fine information. Get a staff/lead/SDM to speak with patrons about their fines. The only fine info. you can tell patrons is this very, very basic information.

For reserves, AV, and technology, fines are either charged by the hour (or portion thereof) or by the day for 1, 3, & 7 day check outs. Handouts with specific fine info for these items are kept in these easy-to-access locations.
What are the info racks? (Or clear holders: can also mention tech on tech lending forms and sign by tech lending area, reserves on yellow slip in reserve books).

Reminder notices, sent through email at regular intervals, are sent purely as this gesture. We are not required to send them; it is up to the user to regulate the items they've borrowed.

After the Bills tab is the Profile tab. This tab tells you all about the patron, from their patron type, phone number, email, and address, to their barcode and user name. This is also where staff can write these messages that pop up when you first open a patron record.

Always check that the patron's name on their ID matches the name on their record and check this ID requirement to make sure the person in front of you looks like the person on the ID.

Bob Beach from UNC Wilmington registered to borrow books from us. However, the card swipe reader is having trouble reading his student ID card. Since he does not have a UNCG ID number, you type in his name, find his account, and ask him to verify these three pieces of info. to make sure you've selected the correct account.

The final tab on a patron's record is the History tab. If logged into WMS with this kind of account, it will tell you the patron's borrowing history and email notification history. However, at the desk, if you click the History tab, a message will pop up saying "You are not authorized to perform this operation."

Oliver Olvidar lost a Spanish dictionary he had checked out and it went into long overdue status. He found it behind the beans (or frijoles) in the pantry and turned it in before it was in long overdue status for 6 months. The Billing Manager credits $65 to the Cashier's Office for the replacement cost. Oliver now only owes the processing fee, which totals this amount of money.
