True or False.  I can wait until next semester to put in the work for my capstone project.

What is No?  You are working on your capstone project in the junior seminar course.
100

In this type of research, the authors collect their own data.

What are analytical sources?

100

This is a process that involves identifying and summarizing (paraphrasing) important material in the research article.  It assists with identifying main ideas and evidence for your research topic and developing comparisons and contrasting points of your research.

What are annotations?

100

In this type of research, the focus involves measuring a concept or construct and can be expressed numerically.

What is quantitative research?

100

What part of the research paper list the analysis of your data?

What is the Results section?

200

True or False. In the junior seminar, students will create a draft of their Introduction section and find 15 analytical articles for their Literature Review.

Next, they will compare/contrast these articles for each of the 3 headings.   Is this Introduction and Literature Review concluded?

What is No?   In the Senior Seminar, students must refine the Introduction Section and use the annotations to develop paragraphs.   Students do not have a comprehensive Literature Review developed as this requires developing paragraphs with topic and concluding sentences, identifying unanswered questions, and interpreting the literature.  This is another step in the process.

200

Examples of this data include encounter data (claims data), data retrieved from another source, or Census data.

What is secondary data?

200

For purposes of your capstone project, we do not conduct research on adolescents/minors, pregnant women, incarcerated individuals, or individuals with cognitive/developmental impairments.  Additionally, research topics that involve asking participants about mental health diagnoses and illicit substance usage are not appropriate for the capstone course.

What are vulnerable groups/populations?

200

In reviewing research articles, which parts of the article explains how data was collected in the research?

What is the abstract and Methods section?

200

This part of the capstone report includes the title of the paper, name, assignment name, course number, and university.

What is the title page?

300

In this course, students will write out the Introduction and Literature Review, and develop the Methodology section.

What is the senior seminar?

300

In the Introduction section, you may use which types of articles?

What is descriptive and analytical articles?

300

This process involves identifying what the research is about, how it was conducted, and the findings.

What is a literature review?  Your capstone paper requires that you utilize 15 analytical sources in your literature review.

300

In this type of research design, the focus involves collecting and analyzing non-numerical data and seeks to understand people's social reality.

What is qualitative research?

300

This section of the paper identifies limitations identified in conducting the research and provides suggestions for improving the research for future researchers.

What is the Recommendations and Conclusions section?

400

True or False. Students are not required to collect their own data and can find this data by reviewing the literature.

What is false?  All students are required to collect research data on the topic that they are studying.
400

In this section of your paper, you must use only analytical sources (researchers collected their own data)?

What is the Literature Review Section?

400

These articles have been reviewed by other experts in the same field before publication to ensure accuracy and reliability.

What are peer reviewed articles?

400

This research combines numerical and descriptive data collection.

What is mixed-method research?

400

This section of the capstone report identifies major findings from your research and addresses how your research is different from other research, similar to other research, or presents a new question not identified in past research.

What is the discussion section?

500

In this seminar course, students will collect their own data, analyze their findings, and conclude their capstone report.

What is the capstone course?

500

How many analytical articles (articles in which the researcher collected their own data) are required for the literature review section of your paper?

What is 15 articles?

500
How many annotations are required for the capstone Literature Review section of your capstone report?

What is 15?  Each analytical article (researcher collected their own data) will be annotated.

500

Your research project requires that you collect your own data to complete the assignment.  Identify the minimum sample size for quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method.

What is 30 (quantitative), 20 (mixed-method), and 12 (qualitative)?

Quantitative- minimum sample size of 30

Qualitative-minimum sample size of 12

Mixed- Method- minimum sample size of 20

List all of the required components of your capstone paper.

What is the title page, abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussions, recommendations and conclusions, and reference pages?
