What is stewardship?
A foundation whose funds are derived from members of a single family.
What is a family foundation?
A financial award given by a foundation, corporation, or government agency to support a specific project, activity, or program. These often require annual reporting.
What is a grant?
A letter sent by a donee, to the donor, expressing appreciation for a gift. This is usually personalized.
What is an acknowledgment letter?
A non-cash contribution of goods or services.
What is gift in kind?
The process of donors making charitable contributions as part of their financial or estate plans.
What is planned giving?
The process of identifying and converting potential donors into active supporters of a nonprofit organization.
What is donor acquisition?
The process, act, or instance of soliciting a gift.
What is an ask?
When an individual or group of individuals share their story and ask their community to raise funds
What is peer-to-peer fundraising?
A letter sent to a foundation or corporation presenting a project for which funding is being sought and asking the foundation or corporation if they will consider funding the project or receiving a full proposal.
What is a letter of inquiry?
A benefit provided by the IRS to organizations or individuals who give to charitable organizations
What is a tax deduction?
A way to raise money for a cause that will be sustainable long after the initial donation. Donors are asked to provide money now that will fund the organization's work in perpetuity.
