Famous Failures

Think of someone that you respect or whom you think has had a lot of success? Do a bit of research on them and find out ways they have failed. Share the Who and What of their Failure

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink became the richest man in the world recently. Despite this success, he has suffered many failures. He has been removed as the CEO of his former startup company, PayPal, and both Tesla and SpaceX have been on the brink on bankruptcy many times.

Seek and Find

Post a link to a recently written article that has something to do with Divergent Thinking

This article talks about how creative thinking leads to divergent thinking and how schools have began to initiate a focus on STEAM classes (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) which is very different compared to the typical STEM curricular that has been taught in schools for ages.

Virtual Visit

Museums can be a great source of diverse inspiration. During Covid, many famous museums have created virtual experiences. Find one that interests you, explore it, and post a photo of something you were inspired by

This exhibit from the Smithsonian National Museum of National History is of bones of a human and our distant relatives, primates. This exhibit inspired me because it allowed me to divergently think about how far we have come as humans in this world through evolution. Over time we have adapted to new environments and as a result, bone structures have developed differently

Creative Mix Up

Watch the video, Everything is a Remix Remastered. What are the basic elements of creativity?

After watching the video, Everything is a Remix Remastered, I discovered that the three basic elements of creativity are Copy, Transform, and Combine. This led me to do some research and I came across an article that explained this more in detail. The article stated, "Our system of law doesn't acknowledge the derivative nature of creativity. Instead, ideas are regarded as property, as unique and original lots with distinct boundaries. But ideas aren't so tidy. They're layered, they’re interwoven, they're tangled. And when the system conflicts with the reality... the system starts to fail" (Metalocus).

Getting Curious

Take a photo of something outside that evokes your curiosity. Post a photo along with the question that you wonder when you look at it

On Thursday night around 10:30pm, Hepburn Hall's fire alarm went off and we all had to evacuate outside into the freezing weather. I was beginning to fall asleep as I had to wake up very early for a football workout the next morning. As I began evacuating outside, my curiosity was evoked by the smell of burning food. I questioned to myself, who on earth set off the fire alarm and why do they not know how to cook food properly?

Give Me an "A"

Express yourself physically. Provide a photo or a video of yourself spelling out your name using your body as letters

At first glance, I thought this would be an easy challenge to complete. Spelling out my name using my limbs and body, how hard could that be? Once I attempted to complete the assignment, I realized how challenging this could be for some people. My name, Scott, does not have many challenging letters to spell out other than S. I struggled to come up with ideas on how to display the letter S using my body, arms, and legs, and had to redo the video multiple times. Eventually, I was able to angle my body in a certain way with my arms up that resemble a S in a poor way. The other letters were easy.

Rethinking Habits

Change a habit or mindset for 24 hours that has kept you in a mindless routine. Explore habits that may not come naturally. If you talk too much, talk very little. If you smile very little, smile all the time. Observe and document the results

This was my favorite and most helpful goose chase challenge to complete. I have a lot of habits and mindsets in my life that are very unhealthy or not beneficial to myself or those around me. I don't tend to smile often, I use my phone too much, and I go to bed too late. The one I decided to challenge and change over the weekend was going to bed late. On Friday and Saturday, I went to bed prior to 10:30pm to ensure that I got enough sleep. Since the start of the new semester, I have been going to bed very late, usually around 12am or later each night. I believe changing this habit of mine will allow me to become a healthier person due to the higher quality of sleep that I will get when going to bed early
